The Unknowable World

Relational Monism begins with a single, austere premise: the world is unknowable.

Not in the trivial sense that it is difficult to understand, nor in the sceptical sense that our knowledge is always partial. It is unknowable in a stronger, ontological sense: its essence is inaccessible to any consciousness whatsoever.

What we call “reality” is not a thing, not a substance, not a stable order waiting to be discovered. It is a field of energy, whose movements, tensions, and crystallisations remain opaque to any local condensation of awareness. The world does not reveal itself; it merely allows certain phenomena to appear.

Thus, Relational Monism begins not with knowledge, but with darkness. A darkness that is not hostile, but simply indifferent to the human desire for clarity. A darkness that is the condition of all description.
